Tabor-Venitsky Invitational

Dear Colleagues: The Cerritos College Falcon Forensics squad is pleased to invite you to attend the annual Tabor-Venitsky Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament to be held February 18-20, 2022. Once again, this year we will be working in conjunction with an outstanding tab room staff to provide you with an exciting tournament. The Tabor-Venitsky traditionally provides a competitive preview of the PSCFA Spring Championships, CCCFA State, and Phi Rho Pi. Of special note are the following changes and additions: • We are formally restricting entry to community colleges only. In years past we allowed entries from four-year schools on an ad-hoc basis, but we are discontinuing this practice to better align with the Tabor’s stated purpose as a CCCFA/PRP preview. • We will also sunset the “Southern California LD Championships” brand. We will continue to offer IPDA and NFA-LD on Sunday under the Tabor umbrella. IPDA will now follow PRP rules; no group prep/coaching will be allowed. IPDA and LD will also be included in sweepstakes, and sweepstakes will be announced on Sunday rather than Saturday. • We will again reduce the number of IE prelims from 3 to 2 out of concern for student and judge wellness. We will go back to our 3 prelim schedule when we return in person. • We will offer interviewing in a modified format. • Tournament registration is back on forensicstournament.net • We continue to offer reduced entry fees. We will offer four rounds of NPDA parliamentary debate breaking to a bronze/gold elimination round format on Friday, two rounds of IEs breaking to finals on Saturday, and four rounds of IPDA/LD debate breaking to a bronze/gold elimination round format on Sunday. Each day will feature its own awards ceremony. Students may enter a maximum of two IE events per pattern. We will offer two divisions in debate and individual events. The open division in both debate and individual events will be limited to students with remaining CCCFA and/or Phi Rho Pi eligibility ONLY. There will be no coaching or group prep allowed during preparation time in debate. Please submit your entries on forensicstournament.net. All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 6:00pm PST. Fees will be assessed on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 6:00pm. Any adds after that date will be at the tournament director’s discretion. However, please email with drops through Friday to assist in paneling. Sincerely, Nick Matthews Tournament Director Cerritos College Director of Forensics nmatthews@cerritos.edu
