Forsyth “Take ’22” Dogie Speech and Drama Invitational

January 8, 2022

Forsyth High School will host a live-only tournament on Saturday, January 8th, 2022. All teams in classes A, B, and C are invited.

Entry Deadlines:

·       Registration for new schools will close at 12 AM on. 12/22/21

·       Registered schools will be limited to drops on 01/03/2022.

·       Registered schools will be unable to change their registration after midnight on 12/05/2022

Entries: Schools will be limited to 3 entries in each event. All MSHA sponsored B/C events in Speech, Drama, and Debate will be offered.

Rules: All events will be conducted according to the current MHSA handbook with the exception that some small events may have only one judge in finals. We will try to avoid this, but priority for three judges will be given to events with 8 or more competitors.

Schedule: Each event will have three preliminary rounds and one final round. See below for times.

Fees: Each entry in solo events will be charged a fee of $5. Each theatre or team event will be charged $5 per participant.

Registration: Please register via FTN using this link: https://forensicstournament.net/ForsythTake/22

Buildings: Preliminary rounds for speech, debate, and team check-in will be at the Forsyth Elementary School. A few smaller sections may be placed in the middle school across the street. Drama preliminaries will be held at the High School. All finals will be conducted in the high school. Please arrange transportation for your speech students after the 3rd round of speech.

Concessions/Meals: This is a work in progress right now and I will update everyone as soon as groups are locked in to provide concessions.

Awards: Awards will be held in the HS auditorium at 4:00 PM.

Topics: We will use the December topics for all debate and extemporaneous speaking events.

COVID: Competitors and coaches are not required to wear masks or social distance, but these measures are perfectly acceptable. Please remind your students to respect the wishes of some in our community and avoid awkwardness by refraining from shaking hands or moving within three feet of judges when possible. (As situations and local responses are in constant flux, please stay tuned for any updates on new or revised protocols.)
